Cancellation policy & FAQ
What happens if I need to withdraw from a program I have already registered for? Up to 2 weeks prior to the starting date of a program, you are free to withdraw without penalty. Within two weeks of the program start date, however, we cannot issues refunds of deposits.
We really rely on the commitment of our registrants to run our programs at the lowest cost possible, ensure steady employment for our outstanding instructors, and to budget effectively. If you're not sure that your child can attend, please get in touch before registering to explore other options.
We do not issue refunds in the case of a participant's dismissal. If a participant must withdraw from an entire session for medical reasons a full refund will be issued.
What if my child wants to try out a program, but we're not sure if they will like it?
Lots of kids are nervous about spending a whole day outside, being away from family, being around new people for a chunk of time -- that's totally ok and normal! We're pros at working with families and kids to make everyone happy and comfortable, and look forward to finding ways to help reluctant adventurers feel safe and happy in our programs.
If either parent or kiddo is unsure of their commitment to a program, please get in touch and ask to come and try it out for a day! We'll have you fill out a registration form so we have the necessary safety info, but there's no financial commitment. We welcome visitors, and that way if a child does not wish to complete a program there's no harm done. Maybe next season, right?
What happens when the weather is icky? Will you cancel if it's raining/ snowing/ a plague of locusts? Generally, nope! Programs will run even if it's a day when most would rather snuggle in bed. We will, however, cancel programs if the weather makes travel dangerous, if extreme storms/lightening/wind is expected for the area, or if it is just too cold. "Too cold" is a relative measure, and depends on the group and the judgement of instructors.
What happens if a program is cancelled due to weather? If the weather is looking iffy, please check your email the morning of a program. We'll send out a message as early as possible if the day is going to be cancelled, and follow up via phone if we don't hear back from you. We like to wait until the 'day of' to assess inclement weather because often the forecasts are worse than the reality and we try our hardest to get out there if at all possible. We do not offer refunds for programs cancelled due to weather. Think of it as a CSA model -- 'Community Shared Adventure'!
Is there any other reason a program might be cancelled? Very occasionally, we may have to cancel a program due to debilitating illness, low registration, or other unavoidable circumstances. In these cases participants will receive a full refund for the day, or be offered a make-up program date.
